The National Association of Tax Professionals is offering tax professionals free access to the webinar “Tax Identity Theft – Tax Professionals on the Ramparts.”

The 75-minute webinar is a joint venture between the Federal Trade Commission, the IRS and NATP.

Attendees receive practical guidance about new scams targeting client information, cybersecurity and how tax professionals can help ID-theft victims. Subjects include malware and botnets, cybersecurity resources, and preparers’ legal obligations and responses if a firm’s information security is compromised.

Presenters are Mark Kahler, the IRS’s national ID-theft coordinator; John Krebs, an attorney with the FTC division of privacy and ID protection; and Larry Gray, the NATP’s government relations liaison.
